  1. Turn off the power to the fan at the wall switch or circuit breaker and wait for the blades to come to a complete stop.
  2. Locate the control mechanism:
    • On the motor housing: Most fans have a small toggle or sliding switch on the motor body, often near or just above the blades. You may need a sturdy stepladder to reach it safely.
    • On the remote control or wall control: Many modern fans, including potentially some Comfort Air models, have a dedicated "Reverse" or "FWD/REV" button on the remote or wall control unit. Check your fan's user manual for specific instructions if a physical switch isn't obvious.
  3. Adjust the setting:
    • If using a physical switch, flip or slide it to the opposite position.
    • If using a remote/wall control, press the reverse button.
  4. Restore power and turn the fan on to a low speed to verify the change. Stand under the fan to check the airflow. 

Correct Direction for Each Season

  • Summer (Counterclockwise rotation): The fan should run counterclockwise (when looking up from below) at a higher speed to create a direct, cooling downdraft or "wind-chill" effect, which makes you feel cooler.
  • Winter (Clockwise rotation): The fan should run clockwise at a low speed to create a gentle updraft, which pulls cool air up and forces warm air (which naturally rises to the ceiling) down along the walls, redistributing heat evenly throughout the room without creating a draft.
